The Oso y el Madroño is the symbol of the villa of Madrid, supossedly since the Middle Ages already. The statue of the symbol is situated by the Plaza del Sol in Madrid (opposite side to the Km. 0). The symbol consists of a bear, which is the "oso", although it should be "osa" since it's a female bear, and a madroño tree, both of which were supposed to be very common in the forests around Madrid many years ago.
In the Puerto del Sol is the most important statue in the square that of the Bear and the Strawberry tree.
This is the symbol of the city of Madrid but it is not really a strawberry tree! It is a Madrono tree.
