This famous fountain stands in the Plaza Cibeles at the intersection of Calle Alcala, Paseo de los Recoletos, and Paseo del Prado.
The fountain shows the goddess Cybele, goddess of fertility, being pulled by two lions.
The very very ornate building behind the fountain used to be the the main postal office, but now serves as Madrid City Hall.
Part of its fame also comes from the fact that this is where Real Madrid fans celebrate victory.
The Plaza de Cibeles is also where you will also find the famous fountain of Cibeles. The fountain depicts the goddess Cibeles, the Greek goddess of fertility, who is seen sitting on a chariot and being pulled by two lions.
You can see a picture of this famous fountain with my tip.
Another icon of Madrid. It was created by Spanish Architect Ventura Rodríguez between 1.777 and 1.782.
The Fountain of Cybele depicts the famous goddess driving a chariot drawn by beautifully sculpted lions.
