Basilica with two towers. On the fasade there are sculptures of kings of Judea.
Inside can you see beautiful altar made of jasper with statues of Philippe II, Charles V and their wifes with children. There are too many beautiful old pictures.
It was a great and unique experience to visit El Escorial and the Valle de los Caidos on a snowy day. I think the weather served to make it a more memorable trip. If you visit in the winter, be prepared. Even if it's not cold and snowy in Madrid, it's possible that you will experience such weather here.
To one side of the square is a wall with the old coat-of-arms which were used during Franco's regime (1939-1975).
