The restaurants in the town are mainly aimed at the pilgrims who stay for lunch.
We tried two restaurants near the main plaza. Rather cheap but standard food.
In one of them "Altamira" I got an excellent Extremadura wine, reserva 1999, the most expensive on the wine card at only 14 € ! Excellent wine but standard food at very cheap prices.
Kind service only in Spanish (of course).

Address: Near main plaza.
We had expected better. The restaurant of the Parador is probably a good one, maybe the best in the town, but I think they insist too much on the local cuisine of Extremadura. Although my wife and I are used and like Spanish regional dishes, here we had to face some strange combinations.
The desserts were good. The wines are on the high price side as usual in the Paradors

The bar in the patio of the Gothic Cloister is a wonderful place to have a refreshment or coffee.
