Santa Maria de Bayona Church
The church of Santa María of Baiona, with a ogival romanesque style, was built in the 13th century
Notice the marvellous Romanesque rose window up in the main façade.
Capilla de la Misercordia
It was built by order of Felipe II in 1595 at the entrance of the fortress. In 1656 it was placed in the Old Town where it can be found today.
Monument to Alfonso IX
The statue was built in 2001, by the time of the 8th centennary of the foundation of Bayona. It represents the King Alfonso IX, founder and protector of Bayona
Castle of Monte Real - Santiago Battery
This battery is located in the west part of the fortress, not far from the Prince's Tower, and it was used to defend the harbour entrance along with two other batteries.
Castle of Monte Real - San Antón Battery
This eight cannon battery was used to defend the harbour and part of it's entrance. Usually the fire from this battery was very low.
