I saw it by chance. I took the Calle Maria because the Tourist Office was near, and then I saw the plaque stating that General Franco was born there and lived his childhood. I asked for the key to visit the house, but nobody knew anything. It seems that people prefer not to show the house to the visitors because there are still many Spaniards that suffered by the Civil War (1936-1939), started when the Communists wanted to convert Spain in a kind of Soviet Union republic and killed many thousands of religious people.
General Francisco Franco was born in El Ferrol in 1892.

First two maps of my trip from Ferrol to Hendaye on FEVE railway in Northern Spain. The FEVE is red on map.The train travels through superb scenery, narrow valleys, woods, hills, with glimpses of the sea. There are no refreshments facilities on board, so take your own. There is a toilet on board.

Start Ferrol to Ribadeo Ribadeo to Luarca to Gijon

Ferrol has a airport nearby . The Bus station has buses to many places The RENFE trains go to A Coruna ,Vigo, Santiago, and Madrid etc. But for me the main reason for being in Ferrol is the FEVE train. For years I planned to travel along the narrow guage line from Ferrol to Hendaye in France, but could never work out how to do it. Because the timetables seem rather strange some parts of the line only have two trains a day .The fares are cheap and trains comfortable with big windows for viewing the wonderful scenery , and the train stops at little stations along the way.so is slow. The FEVE is now run by RENFE the Spanish main rail company. The pass for the over 60 s the Tarjeta Dorada is valid on FEVE. My route with stopovers was 9 days.Start Ferrol 08-10 to Ribadeo.Leave Ribadeo 11-10 for Luarca. Leave Luarca12-23 for Gijon.Leave Gijon 08-45 for Ribadesella.Leave Ribadeslla 11-00 for Santander.Leave Santander 08-00 for Bilbao[.2ngts] Then by Euskotren from Bilbao to Hendaye France This is the other narrow guage train . Info for Euskotren on there website. FEVE info on RENFE website click FEVE.

Ferrol RENFE and FEVE station. Colourful times FEVE train Large windows on FEVE train FEVE is the red on coast first part of my route.
