Poboado do Monte de Santa Tegra, A Guarda (Galician) / Poblado del Monte de Santa Tecla, La Guardia (Castilian)The Celt village or "castrum" of the Saint Tecla Mount is a fantastic and well conserved celtic village. It's on the top of a mountain just where the Miño/Minho River dies in the Atlantic Ocean, so you'll enjoy the great views of both the Spanish (Galician) and Portuguese sides.

One of the most outstanding settlements is that of Santa Tecla. Here you can get an idea of how the "castrexa culture" lived between the 1st century B.C. and the 2nd century A.D. These rebuilt circular stone dwellings or castros occupy an impressive strategic location and that location gives you fantastic all-around views: To the south across the Minho River to Portugal and west across the Atlantic.
At the summit there is also an archeological museum where personal adornments, ceramics, and other objects found in the sites are kept.
The museum is open from Easter till December 9th from 10:00AM - 8:00PM.

The Sanctuary dates from the 12th and 16th centuries with later reforms. The Sanctuary holds a small piece of the relic of the Saint that suffered several tortures in Iconio, Minor Asia, during the year of 46 AD. Also there is a small piece of the authentic Lignum Crucis

f one wants to have a souvenir of the place, there is nothing better than visiting the street market placed in the Boulevar on Saturdays. In the different stalls one can get many typical products made in this region, coming into contact with the inhabitants of La Guardia..
