According to the many ancient legends the Mountain Santiaguino or the Santiago’s Mountain is the place where Saint James the Apostle preached the first gospel message. That means this is the place where the Christ’s message of unconditional love and forgiveness sounded first time in entire Iberian peninsular, otherwise this is the place of first Christian sermon in Roman province of Spain.
You can see there the statue of Apostle and the cross. Not far the small chapel of Santiago is situated. There is scene with Santiago baptizing pagan Queen Lupa on the tympanum. The replica of O Pedron (the mooring post) to which the boat with the body of Saint James was tied up is situated near the chapel.

Palace of Quito was built in XVIII century as the residence of Alonso de la Peña and Montenegro the Bishop of Quito in the rich Spanish colony now Ecuador. Palace was built here because Alonso de la Peña was born here and Padron was his native city. Unfortunately the palace is not available for the public access.

Fountain of Carmelites was built in XVI century and later reconstructed in XVIII century. In fact this is the Chapel combined with the fountain. It is beautifully decorated with scene displaying the arrival of the body of Saint James the Apostle with his disciples Theodore AND Athanasy. Another scene shows the conversion and baptism of the pagan Queen Lupa. The statue of Virgin Mary stands over the three water sources.
The fountain is situated just under the Carmelite Monastery in the central part of Padron.

A small galician village. But here Camilo José Cela was born, and his Nobel Prize for literature is the proud of everybody there, You can see Cela in statues, in pictures spread in every bar, in every restaurant: much more than a football star! Here also lived her last years the famous (in Spain!) Rosalia de Castro, and from here come the famous (in Spain!) "pimientos de padron", green peppers, very good fried.
There's a nice atmophere, a small, intimate old town with restaurants and bars, and a river with ducks and swans; and don't miss, every sunday, the local market, colourful parade of street vendors, where you can find almost everything, from underwear to pimientos, from fruits to warm steaks!
