Murcy

by DanielF

Ingenious and efficient irrigation methods brought by the Arabs turned one of the dryest areas in the continent into a true garden where some of the most reknown Spanish vegetables grow. The city of Murcia, with around 375.000 inhabitants, has grown around the agricultural prosperity of its surrounding "huerta".This picture shows the Barroque façade of the beautiful cathedral of Murcia, the centre of the monumental area that overlooks the Segura river.

Moratalla

by DanielF

Moratalla is really a picturesque town in North-western Murcia, with its maze of winding streets arond the massive church and the ruins of the castle. You can see more pictures in my Moratalla page.

Calasparra

by DanielF

A typical small town in the sierras of Murcia. Calasparra is known for the quality of the rice grown in this area, used in many of the typical dishes.
