Discotecas, find the ones with local clientele

by OCNJBritt

It was a bit difficult at first for my friends and I to find some nightlife that didnt cater to the Western and mostly French tourists walking in the door...For example, the music going from Juan Carlos to Beyonce Knowles in less than three seconds..I understand that the proprietors try to cater to their clientele but Im not in Spain to hear Destiny's Child, right? Anyway, give it some time. We actually mentioned to the DJ in casual conversation that we were eager to hear more Spanish pop and latin rhythms...He was thrilled and indulged both us and the rest of the clientele at the disco to some really great songs...Maybe it was presumptious to ask, but it seemed the whole place started moving when he switched over to the music most popular to the Spaniards. Dress up, youre in Spain...

Flamenco

by OCNJBritt

Flamenco is by far one of the most passionate and provocative dances I have ever seen. The incredible music cries out to you and the best dancers perform as if it is their last night on stage. The muscle isolation and instensity with which Flamenco is perfomed invokes all of the senses. Do not go to Spain without seeing a Flamenco show. Formal

the entire street is alive: Las Ramblas Blvd.

by SvetlanaL

This street is the most famous street Barcelona, Spain. Every night, the street is alive. Sometimes literally. There are street performers that look like statues and stand still for hours at a time, there;s a man who taught his frog puppet to play the piano, psychics and portrait artist scatter the street, singer, dancers, jugglers, they've got it all down. When I was there I had a man from russian Georgia pencil a very accurate portrait of me. I went there with my mom and stayed in a hotel overlooking the street. It seemed like no one ever slept out there at night and we could always find a place to get coffee, no matter what time it was. And the street was never empty. I guess it depends on who you ask. There were women in light summery dresses and men in suits, young travelers in old clothes, the performer's' dress was eccentric. It really depends on where and when you go.

Madrid as a great city has its modern civilized part with the high and huge buildings, and at night they are as impressive and some times more than at morning nights, we had a walk in the night with my VT friends and Jose *Jlvillalba* took the task of the great guide ;-D
