Palacio del Marqués de Viana in Cordoba

by Paul2001

I visited the Palacio del Marqués de Viana as afterthought. I was really not expecting much but in fact I found that visiting this 17th century palace to be a pleasant surprise. Few such palaces in Spain are actually open to the public but the Palacio del Marqués de Viana can be visited. To visit the interior of the palace, you have to take a tour which shows you the various rooms filled with elegant furnishings and the carriage house. For the most part the palace is famous for its gardens and patios. These were stunning and for me the highlight of my visit. Furthermore they can be toured at your leisure. The Palacio del Marques de Viana is located at Plaza de Don Gome 2 which is four blocks southeast of Plaza de Colon. It cost 6 Euros to visit and an additional 3 Euros to see the patios. The palace is open from Monday to Saturday from 9am to 2pm from June to September. It opens from...

Watch the sunset in Barcelona

by shellac

There is a giant hill in Barcelona right next to the olympic grounds, head up the road and about half way up turn into the park and park, then head up the sidewalk to a viewing deck that looks out over the sea to the left and Barcelona to the right, watch the sun set...then head further up the hill to an ancient fort that was fortified and retrofitted by Franco during the war. There is a cafe and a skyway, once it's good and dark, watch Barcelona light up!

Albacete

by blint

Abacete is a modern town in the south of Castilla-La Mancha where the historic centre consists of four houses. You don't come here for the beauty, but instead for the shopping, night life or as a cheap place to stay. All the good bars are all down the same street which makes a great design for a pub crawl! Infact the whole road which runs parallel to Calle Mayor is devoted entirely to bars and nothing more! All the restaurants seem to be down Calle Mayor!Albacete does have a really nice main square by the cathedral. Which is full of trees and other greenery. We stayed in a two star hotel that looked like a three star hotel for the price of a one star hotel! For this reason it makes a great place to stop off on your way somewhere else!

Best shot of the beaten path here!

by dr.firas

Best shot of the beaten path here!as in every trip I make I used to differ a special lovely picture in all measures, the lights, shadows, and the place, the relation between the things, nature, buildings and people, and this is the one I love here in my Madrid page ;-D

Almudena Cathedral is a beaten path as well

by dr.firas

Almudena Cathedral is a beaten path as wellsituated near the Royal Palace which is a Beaten path as I said already, only that facade of it is a beaten path, the opposite facade of the Cathedral has an access for cars and buses!

Spanish Sky

by dr.firas

I remember a famous song from a Lebanese famous singer *Moulhem Barakat* in the Middle East, the title is Viva Espana!and the words of the song goes:I loved you , you the happiness of a strangerEh Vivia Espana! You sky is as if its our skyEh Vivia Espana!Your air is like our airEh Vivia Espana! And indeed, I felt many things in that song are true, Spanish sky, beautiful sunny weather, and air and the emotional people and the landscapse are very similar to those in the Middle East!

The tower and city walls!

by dr.firas

The city walls stood once to defend the city of Sevilla, with towers of defence and with pickemen, but all this is now from the past, men are gone, different times, but the city walls and the towers still stood as the evidence of those former times!

Tip Photo
Prado Park

by dr.firas

Prado park near the Prado museum, are both beaten paths and they are both worth a walk and a visit!a park that must been visited by you when you are in Madrid, you will beat 2 birds with one stone, the park and the museum ;-D

Beaten path 3

by dr.firas

Some streets are loaded with cars, and other not, it is a very typical thing in Sevilla, every famous monument is mixed, there are facads where you have streets for cars, and others where there are only paths for footpaths!

Carmona

by Paul2001

Carmona is a small whitewashed town that is typical of many that you will find in Andalucia. The town is compact enough that you can see all of the worthy monuments in the matter of a couple of hours. There are several architectually significant gateways and impressive fortifications. For me the highlight of my visit was the ancient Roman necropolis.Carmona is about an hours bus ride from Seville. If you have the time it is well worth stopping here on you way to Cordoba. It also is an excellent daytrip from Seville which is how I saw it
