Since about 90% of the hotels that we stayed in had no alarm clock it's probably a good idea to bring your own or bring a watch with an alarm. Even though you're on vacation you never know when you're going to want to get up early or wake up from an afternoon nap.
Spain is hot in the summer so bring your shorts and hot weather gear. No matter how hot it is at night most of the locals will be wearing pants. If you don't want to stick out like too much of a tourist you might want to bring a pair of pants in addition to your shorts. If you're going to Spain and plan on going to the bathroom you might want to think about bringing some toilet paper or napkins with you. Some but not all public bathrooms in Spain will be properly stocked. I found out from my girlfriend that the woman's room is usually not stocked. Hotels will have a proper supply in the room usually providing one roll and a spare. If you want to be thrifty you can take some sheets or the whole roll from your room before you leave for the day. in you baggage always take the makings of a tea or coffee. as found on arrval that we had to wat for shops to open and as it was a resort shop on a sunday afternoon all prices were dearer than normal. light footwear most of the time unless gong long distant walking or on the hill. we found these were a lot dearer than prices in the Uk, about 20% dearer if buying a dgital or video camera. the cameras are good prced. but the accessories were very dear. evn Memory cards for a dgicam was about twice the uk price. Sand/beach can get very hot always take some sort of footwear. watch children on some of the beaches as often there are strong under tows, to sweep you out a few yards. so aarm bands for poor swimmers a good idea
Spain in summer can be very hot. It depends on the areas, of course. The pic U see was taken in Madrid in late July, showing a temperature of 44 centigrade degrees!!!If youi go to the south (Andalucia) or to the Mediterranean coast you will find similar temperatures.But if you go up to the north coast, temperatures can go down like 10-15 degrees less than in the rest, and can even be chilly in the evenings, including rainy days too...
Just pack the normal stuff you would on vacation. Remember to bring European power adaptors. Depending on where you are and the season, it could really range. Even if you are going to the "hot" areas in Spain, you should bring a light sweater because it can get chilly at night. The most important thing is to take sharp looking clothes and shoes so you don't stick out like a sore thumb. I suggest you buy your toiletries while you are in Spain. They have some very famous products that you will want to take home like Heno de Pravia and Magno bathgel. This one is a no brainer... You can buy anything you might have forgotten. Prices are comprable to those in the US, except for jeans. In Spain, you will pay for popular American items. Cost for tolitries, film, etc is comparable to the US.

I took my backpack and thats it. HOT HOT HOT!!! Forget everything you learnt in Canada, this place is HOT! Leave the sweaters and heavy jeans at home. I typically lived in my swimsuit and just threw very light dresses over top and this was more than enough. I even wore the same thing out at night because it was not uncommon to go for a dip late at night. God do I miss this country! Roach spray...yes they are a pesky little problem and if you are renting an apartment I would bring some or buy some otherwise you will be chasing them down with a shoe!
