DaVinci's: Best Italian I've Ever Had Not In Italy

by galaxyrain

This restaurant is located in the city of Puerto de Santa Maria. I recommend to anyone and to all the military stationed in the Rota. The place is very small and in the summer can be very hot due to no air conditioning. The food does take a while to cook, but it is worth it and everything is made from scratch and baked in a clay oven. Lasagna and stuffed shells, the garlic bread is great too. Get some wine while you are there.

Casa Hortensia: Madrid : best merluza in town

by gandara

Food from Asturias : fabada, cordero asado, besugo al horno y merluza a la sidra. They serve as apetizer a delicious "strong" blue cheese, like the french roquefort. The restaurant is in the house of asturias on second floor of a building. merluza

La Barraca - Madrid: PAELLA!!!!! (Pah-eh-ya)

by Geisha_Girl

LA BARRACA is coined as serving "The Best Paella in Madrid." They supposedly have been serving it since 1935.I was really anxious to sample true Spanish paella and I was not disappointed at all by this restaurant. The "Paella Mixta" was incredible and is meant to serve two. The flavor combination of the saffron rice mixed in with the seafood and chicken were absolutely mouth-watering.Combine that with a aromatic bottle of excellent Spanish wine and wonderful, friendly service, and this restaurant was good enough to come to twice in 4 days! You can tell by the look on my face I was having a wonderful meal and surrounded by a cozy ambience.Just what the heck was I looking at? PAELLA MIXTA "LA BARRACA" (calamares, mejillones, langostinos, mero, pollo, magro de cerdo)

a meeting point: Travel Bar (Barcelona)

by SirRichard

The 2 years old Travel Bar in Barcelona has been thought as a meeting point for travelers from all over the world. Waiters that speak 11 different languages (greek, swedish, portuguese...), internet cafe, travel agency...They organize slide shows, "tapas tours", cultural visits, chating meetings, sport activities...Take a look at their web page.

-The ambience: it is very nice, students, young, groups, ...It is more a coffee house where you can drink beer, coffee or tea.-The food: is expensive and pre-maked (like empanada gallega, tortilla, pizza, tarta, ...)-GOOD: newspapers, internet, board with adds, terrace in summer Cyber café with book shop. El Faro Restaurant: Great Food With Cider On Tap

by SidraSue

I discovered El Faro almost two years ago when I returned to Spain, if I had found it before I may never have left in the first place!Situated in La Manzanera the restaurant is away from the noise and traffic of the town and is worth the amble up the hill. In summer the terrace is shaded over, with a little spot left for the real sun worshippers and in the winter the wood burning stove keeps indoors warm and cosy. All the ususal dishes can be found on the menu but Ian will go out of his way to cater to those of us wanting something different. With a days notice he can conjure up almost anything. The tapas are great and freshly made to order, not sitting on a cool tray waiting for someone to come along and pick them. The bar is frequented by regulars and tourists alike and very cosmopolitan but we all get along - even during the international footy matches!! Only friendly banter...

El Faro: Expensive

by solopes

We stopped for lunch in Antequera, in a restaurant by the highway. The lunch was good but too expensive. I don't know if I had to pay the many flies that made us company during the lunch.

Hierro Uno: Mouth watering spanish food but different!

by Mariacombat

A brand new concept of Spanish cuisine with absolutely mouth watering dishes! Incredibly well presented and the service was brilliant!Seven of us celebrated my friend's birthday there and we couldn't find any faults, in fact, it was quite the contrary... with every dish that came out we were stunned at the taste of it!! We chose to have the "degustacion" menu. Which is 6 courses... this way we get to try a lot of different things... even the desserts where incredible! I don't think I've ever had such a different, delicious home made Spanish dessert!! The price was only 25€... it was incredible value for money! The staff were always smiling and the restaurant is modern, sleek and very clean. It's not very big and you feel very cosy. I would highly recommend you go an eat there!! Gosh! so difficult as all the dishes where so nice... But i have to say that the duck stood out for me, it was...

Fresc Co Chain: Veggie heaven

by unaS

This is a chain of restaurants found in a number of cities in Spain, usually with convenient locations. I ate in a few of them. All have the same basic lay-out and foods. Very clean, busy at lunchtime and child friendly. It is an all you can eat buffet with vegetarian/vegan choices available but they also serve meat dishes at a separate counter. There is a long fresh vegetable/salads counter, a drinks counter, a desert counter and the meats/hot foods counter (includes soup, pasta and pizza for instance). For a flat price (9.90 Euro in September 2009) you can have as much to eat as you like. Take what you want, includes one soft drink/coffee/tea and one desert. You can return to the food bar for a free refill. The food is fresh and tasty. The vegetables crisp and clean. A wide variety to choose from. The deserts are most often a choice of fruits, ice cream, rice pudding, a simple 'pound'...

LOS TORILES: TAKE THE BULL BY THE HORNS

by DAO

This is a fantastic little gem of a restaurant that many people walk right past. Don’t pass up your opportunity to enjoy fantastic traditional Andalusian food. It has a cosy and interesting interior filled with many local artefacts, posters from bull fights and even a few ribbons awarded to prize bulls. The fantastic waiter clad in a tuxedo invited me in and made me feel very welcome. He actually recommended that I try some typical Andalusian dishes. What a great result! I enjoyed Gazpacho as my starter. This cold, tomato based vegetable soup, is served with egg and vegetables cut into small pieces. Add as much or as little as you like to make a heartier dish. I then ordered the Ragoût de Toro a la Flamenca (Bull meat ragoût Andalusian style). Wow! This was so good I did consider licking my plate to get every drop of the fantastic sauce. Los Toriles serves several typical Andalusian...
