Sagardi Valencia Centro: Two Great Dining Experiences at Once

by RScottE1

Sagardi is located in a beautiful building near Valencia's historical city center. The ground floor is a bustling, friendly tapas bar with some of the most appealing, fresh and beautifully displayed tapas we'd seen in Valencia (and we really, really like tapas). However, upstairs, there is an amazing, formal Basque restaurant. Although it's one of our golden rules to never eat at the same restaurant twice on the same trip, we made an exception for Sagardi. The ambience is warm and friendly. The wait staff is engaging (and gorgeous!). Everything at the tapas bar was great. At the restaurant upstairs, the ham croquettes starter was excellent. For the main dish, the T-bone was amazing. It's a little confusing to order your steak in units of 100 grams, but despite that the meat is perfectly prepared and presented table-side sizzling on a marble slab. We shared one steak between four of us...

Beware: Paella Marinara (photos)

by markrabinovich

Paella Marina is usually served in a gargantuan portion which is pretty enough for three or four persons. Ordering it for a couple is a real challenge. Nevetherless, we servived (see the last photo).More or less applicable to any spanish restaurant

SPANISH RESTAURANTS: FOOD AND BEVERAGE

by LoriPori

FOOD -- Catering to all tastes, SPANISH RESTAURANTS are divided into five categories symbolized by vertical forks on a plaque outside the restaurant. Menu and prices are listed both inside and outside most establishments. Ask for the tourist menu, usually an all-inclusive meal very reasonably priced according to the category of the restaurant.Typical Spanish fare includes fish, meat, fresh vegetables, chicken and egg dishes. Favourites include "churros" ( a type of fried doughnut ), "tortilla espanola" ( an omelette with potatoes and onions ), and "tapas" ( tasty hors d'oevres that tend to feature specialties of the local cuisine ). The most famous dish is "paella" made of rice, saffron, meat or seafood.Restaurant hours vary. Lunch is generally served from 1330 to 1600 and dinner from 2030 to 2330.BEVERAGES - Spanish wines are excellent, especially the red wines from the Rioja region and...

Great if you're a salt and fat fan

by kdubs

Not so much a specific restaurant review, more a hatchet job on the food. The big local dish is Fabada - a bean stew with a hunk of bacon fat, some chorizo and a black pudding sausage. I think alot of the salt in the dish comes from the chorizo. It's so so salty. Alot of the seafood's pretty good though, as you'd expect in a coastal area. Merluza (hake) is ubiquitous and so is cider - a regional speciality which they pour from a great height. Paella was the nicest dish we had all week, with some incredibly fresh crab in it. There's a lovely atmosphere too on the harbour front in Cudilla. So I'll drop in a nice picture of that rather than the Fabada

by Hosell

Have you heard about our TAPAS? well if you never been to Spain,I have to explain you a little bit what tapas are. Normally they are served in a small plate for one or two persons. There are a huge variety of tapas through the whole country, each region has some different ones an you'll find a lot of them to choose from in each small or big city in Spain. In the basque country they are called "Pinxos" but in the rest of Spain they are known for "Tapas",I will tell you here just a few of them of the huge variety of tapas that you can find in Spain, the most known of them are.........Pincho de Tortilla,Calamares a la Romana,Calamares a la Plancha, pescaditos fritos, croquetas, brochetas, mejillones, boquerones en vinagre, carne en salsa, champiñones a la plancha, seafood salad, jamón serrano, queso manchego, aceitunas, and lots more!!!!. I am lucky cause I got a cook in my family, these pics and tapas...

Typical Spanish Breakfast: CHOCOLATE CON CHURROS

by Hosell

If you visit Spain, don't hesitate to try the "Chocolate con Churros" if you have the chance and specially if you aren't on a diet!!!! :-) try our "national spanish breakfast" right now we don't use to have them every day obviously, normally some sundays and in some national hollydays too.The chocolate is very dark and thick and the churros is a sort of fried pastry made of flour, salt and water,we fry this pastry in a very hot oil and we use to serve the "churros" with some sugar or honey on the top,and always with a chocolate or a milky coffe, try them and let me know!.You can enjoy a Chocolate with churros in many of the spanish cafetrias along the country and also you can buy the "churros" in a shop called "CHURRERIAS".

Speaking of Romantic Dinners! The restaurant at theHotel Aigua Blava is the place for romantic dining, wonderful food, and spectacular views. The dining room is quite pleasant with linen table coverings and napkins, fresh flowers on the tables, and windows for the great views.Allan and I spent two and one half hours having a leisurely meal. Never were we rushed; service was super. We partook of salads, Steak Diane, Monk Fish and Lobster in a Special Sauce, green beans, artichoke, fresh strawberries and whipped cream.Needless to say, we were in Heaven! To begin the meal, we were presented with cheeses and baby Squid. The Steak Diane was prepared Tableside.Allan was given a bib and special water dish to wash his hands because hislobster was quite messy, but delicious. The service, ambience, and setting were perfect.

Hostal Del Cardenal Restaurant: Toledo's Amazing Restaurant

by deecat

Photos:1. Allan enjoying dessert after dinner2. Sandy at entrace to hotel and restaurant3. Sandy saying goodbye to friends after dinnerWhile staying at Hostal Del Cardenal in Toledo, we had a most delicious dinnerat the hotel's dining room. Location is excellent, in the heart of the imperial city. It's in a former Palace. The Cuisine served in several small dining rooms is always supposed a feast. We found out that it is, indeed, a feast! One travel book said that this restaurant's food was "Vintage Stuff!"It was that and more. The three of us ordered:Baby LambQuailPartridgeGarlic SoupChocolate CakeStrawberries and ice creamAll of it was outstanding. The Partridge was perhaps the best of all of it.
