If you like the convinience of Department Stores, where everything is in the same building, "El Corte Ingles" is the main (only?) place in Spain for this. They have shops in nearly every spanish town, so you won't have problems finding the nearest one. The prices are not always the cheapest, but you may be (almost) sure to find what you need without walking up and down the town. Leave a Comment

There are several flea markets all over Spain, but maybe the most famous is "El Rastro", in Madrid. It is held on sunday mornings in Madrid, around the "Ribera de Curtidores" street (Metro La latina, Puerta de Toledo or Anton Martin). Here you can find second hand things, furniture, clothes, books, records, souvenirs... and many many people... take care of your stuff, many pickpockets around too!! Leave a Comment

If you are a fan of Real Madrid soccer team and wanna buy original items from the club there are at least a pair of shops of the club in Madrid. - One at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium (Castellana ave, Metro Santiago Bernabeu), where you can also visit the trophy room and have a tour around the stadium. - One at Carmen street very near from Puerta del Sol, in the first corner after you enter the street from the square. It was quite a hoot to navigate the narrow streets of Granada and experience the sights , sounds and oh yes the smells of a very diverse city. The STREET SHOP pictured here was a common sight and their wares were proudly displayed on the street. It was common to see bakers, tailors and little produce shops in little cubby holes along the streets. Quite amazing.

By now, most people realize that Spain is a wonderful place to purchase leather and shoes. The fashion houses in Madrid and Barcelona have flourished, and the demand for quality leather from Spain is high as is the desire to own a great pair of Spanish leather shoes. Craft industries in Spain have become big business, particularly the colorful ceramics for which Spain is famous. For centuries, clay dishes, tiles, vases, and other ceramics with bright colors and beautiful designs have been crafted. The Moors influenced many of these designs [the Islamic religion does not allow craftspeople to represent humans in their artwork]. Large ceramics factories are located near the big cities of Valencia and Seville; however, small towns make their own pottery in distinctive styles, too. Also, Spanish tiles are sold at El Rastro, Madrid's famous flea market. Spain's wine and sherry businesses are important also. The sherry is exported to 120 countries around the world. It is desired by many, but especially the British, who have been importing it since the 16th century! The traditional craft of lace-making is thriving again because of the tourist industry. I saw many people taking home lace items as a souvenir of Spain.
When you go to Spain, you don't need to purchase tacky souvenirs. Instead, purchase a nice leather belt, leather shoes, a lace tablecloth, some Majorcan pottery,El Rastro tiles, and the world-class sherry. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

This Charming little shop ARTESANIA LA ESCALERILLA was fun to browse around in as it had many local craft items and brightly painted pottery which I love. Note the charming way they display their colourful wares on the outside of the shop, as pictured here. It was enough to entice me into their shop.

Approximately halfway down the street of Las Ramblas in Central Barcelona from Placa Catalunya, a wet market is located on the right side of the tree-lined street. A wide variety of wet consumer goods are available in the market such as fresh fruits and vegetables, fresh meats such as chickens, beefs, porks and muttons. The wet market may be tempting to some local and foreign tourists. For those who are thirsty especially after a long walk during the hot summer months of July and August, mouth-watering fresh fruit juices and iced cold fresh fruits may sound attractive!
