VAT / IVA (taxes)

by Carmela71

A 7% VAT is the tax to be add to restaurants, hotels etc. Service is included so the tips is optional, not obligatory.Basic products as Bread have the 3%.And the rest of products (that are supposed to be luxury, but they are not lol) that you can buy have the 16%.Remember that airports anymore are duty free for Europe flights, but still you can get discounts when flying outside

Various: Shop 'til you drop

by acemj

Shopping is Spain is great. In the larger cities, you'll find grand boulevards lined with designer stores, but I prefer the smaller, privately owned stores where the shopkeepers tend to be more inclined to bend over backwards to fulfill your every request. Shops usually open at 10am close at 2pm and reopen from 5pm to 8pm.Visitors can reclaim the IVA (VAT) charged on all purchases except food, drink, motor vehicles, and medicines. Ask the store owner for the details. Boquerias, or markets, offer the freshest produce, meats and cheeses and don't miss out on bringing home some wonderful Spanish wine. Traditional handicrafts are often specific to the region of the country. Leather is usually of excellent quality and value. Guitars are amazingly well-crafted and can the quality to affordability ratios are excellent.

I really wasn't in the mood for shopping..........

by Geisha_Girl

JUST KIDDING!!!!!! ;-))Goodness gracious! Some of my best memories of Spain were of the shopping there! Barcelona was my favorite.I was pre-warned about the ultra-chic style mavens that saturated the Barcelona scene, and I saw for myself how Barcelona is certainly among Europe's cities of style. It's a natural magnet for the fashion-conscious and there is no shortage of design outlets for even the most tireless consumer. The best shopping areas in central Barcelona are Passeig de Gracia and the streets to its southwest.......which includes the Boulevard Rosa arcade just north of Carrer d'Arago. For the bargain hunters, note that the winter sales in the Department stores officially start on or around 10 January. The summer sales start around 5 July. Just look for the signs that say:REBAAAAJAAAAAASSSS!!!The big department stores such as El Corte Ingles, and shopping complexes such as El...

Spanish wines are richly rewarding.....not to mention surprisingly affordable! You can enjoy a bounty of reds, whites, sparkling wines, and unique aperitifs, such as excellent dry sherries (jerez).Look for fine vintages from th wine regions Rioja, Ribera del Duero, Penedes, and Priorato, and sparkling wines called cava.

Spain is a world class producer of wines, both in quality and quantity. Better known are the quality reds from Rioja and Ribera del Duero, reds and whites from Penedes, fine whites from Rueda, "sherries" from Jerez, and a fine sparkling wine known as cava. The aim of The Spanish Wine Page is to help both novice and experienced wine lovers find and enjoy not only the known wines, but also to become acquainted with wines from more than 50 recognized wine regions in Spain, and also to learn about grape varieties. Then when you visit Spain, you must to try and buy some of our wines!.
