One of "our" best things!: JAMON SERRANO AND IBERICO

by Hosell

Have you tried the Jamon Serrano?,if your aswer is not, then I'll give you some information, and during your visit to my country, don't hesitate and try it!!There are a few varieties of Jamon Serrano, the best and most expensive,(of course) it is called Jamon Iberico,(or the Bellota),one full ham,may cost you about ($350-$450).These kind of hams, are made of pig's legs that have been feeded with acorns, very popular in some parts of Spain,as Extremadura, from here are the best hams in Spain!.Other varieties are:Recebo.Jamon Serrano (the most popular)Jamon Bodega.Paletillas.

EL CORTE INGLES: DEPARTMENT STORES

by Hosell

El Corte Ingles is the largest department store in Spain. You'll find one of them in almost all big cities. In Madrid or Barcelona you'll find a lot of them. Here you can buy anything!!!.The only that you'll need,it is plenty money or your credit card!.Other big stores are:EROSKIALCAMPOCARREFOUR

Shopping for Fish

by Beach_dog

The Spanish are great fish eaters and fish is often found in their diet. It is not just popular in the coastal areas, where the fishing fleets are based (Galicia and Andalucia), but inland also. Inland fish is generally sold frozen, but fresh fish is delivered daily to the larger cities and Madrid. The price of fish and seafoods has risen in recent years, as in most countries due to poor catches brought about by decreasing EEC quotas and competition.Shops specialising in seafoods are called Pescaderias.

El Corte Inglés: Large national chain of department stores.

by Beach_dog

Its seems whatever you need in Spain you can get it here. A national chain that has branches in just about every city. I?ve used them in Madrid, Valencia, Marbella and Puerto Banus.I recommend visiting during the Sales in January, discounts of up to 50% on designer names.

Pipas (sunflower's seeds

by SirRichard

We have a wide variety of seeds and dried fruits (almonds, nuts...) that you can find in street stalls or in specialized shops (look for the "Frutos Secos" sign). This stall was photographed at the Retiro Park, Madrid, on a sunday morning, when many locals gather to take a walk and enjoy the many street entertainements you can find there (singers, massages, portrait-makers, puppet theatre...)

general markets: Malaga

by jenniferhen

The markets had everything from typical tourist crap to some very authentic and unique gift ideas. Some of my prized finds...a bottle of olive oil (my Dad loves the stuff!:) and a dress. I found cloth shopping a little harder because I am not used to Euro sizing but half the fun was having to try everything on!! The cheapest thing I saw in Spain had to be the sarongs and swim suits. Because I do not live next to a ocean, these things are not "hot" items so you pay more! The shopping was great in Spain, bring an extra bag!

Drinks in the pubs

by rubenship

Ask for a drink in Spain: spirits aren't good in pubs in Spain, usually they are of poor quality and expensive (you'll have a terrible hangover and no money in your pocket). Is better to organize a party at home and buy the drinks in the supermarket. Madrid, Barcelona & other big cities: -Pubs: spirits about 6 euros, beers, bottled water and soft drinks 3.5 euros.-Discos: spirits more than 7 euros, beers, bottled water and soft drinks 5 euros.Salamanca, Granada & medium cities: -Pubs: spirits about 4.5 euros, beers, bottled water and soft drinks 3 euros.-Discos: spirits more than 6 euros, beers, bottled water and soft drinks 4.5 euros.

Public Markets

by Patricialuv

When buying gifts, you can check the hundreds of small shopping stores all around the major cities. There are plenty of department stores, especially El Corte Ingles, which is like Macy's. There are also many public markets where typical spanish items are sold. In public markets, it is customary to bargain with the seller, but in dept. stores such as El Corte Ingles, there is no bargaining.

El Corte Inglés: Most popular department store.....

by la_beba

There is several of these around Spain, even small towns have their "Corte Inglés", which are not "all that" and customer service in Spain unlike the U.S. is down to the floor! it's not important, at least in most places...... metro, restaurants, tapa bars, and shops like this department store. But "Corte Inglés" does sell just about anything you might need, music department, furniture, clothing, real estate!!! and I heard they were starting to think of selling cars also!!
