Francisco de Goya y Lucientes was born in 1746; his works make evident his tormented life, especially his series "Disasters of the war". He was painter of the court of king Charles the Fourth. Probably his most famous work is "La maja desnuda", that provoked a scandal during his time: it would represent the Duchess of Alba, his lover. Picasso

Pablo Ruiz Picasso was born in Málaga in 1881; in 1904 he went to Paris, where he integrated the group of young and revolutionary painters; with Braque, he began a new pictorial movement: the cubism. Undoubtedly, modern art oughts a lot to this genius.Picasso died in 1973.The picture shows his famous "Guernika", that represents the horror of Spanish Civil War (the northern town of Guernika was shelled by the nazis in 1937, on request of General Franco). This touching picture can be seen at Museo Reina Sofía, in Madrid.Pablo Ruiz Picasso nació en Málaga en 1881; en 1904 se trasladó a París, en donde integró un grupo de pintores jóvenes y revolucionarios; junto a Braque inició un nuevo movimiento pictórico: el cubismo. The royal palace in Madrid

by tompt

The royal palace in Madrid is worth a visit. When we were there we had to let them scan our bags. All in fear of terrorist attacks. But then we could enter the palace and do a guided tour. When two of us were looking into a chimney ( just to see if it was real or fake), the guide almost exploded.... So behave and stay behind the lines! The Royal Palace of Madrid is the official residence of His Majesty The King of Spain, but he doesn't use it as a residence. The only use is for official ceremonies. The Palace history goes back to the 9th century. A defensive fort was built on this site, it was later used by the Kings of Castile. The Old Alcázar (royal palace) was constructed in the 16th century here. It was destroyed by fire in 1734. King Philip V built a new Palace at the same site. There was no wood used in this palace, so fire could not destroy it. Building started in 1738 to 1755.

Beaches in Northern Spain

by asturnut

Many people go to the southern and western shores of Spain and the Canary Islands for the fantastic mediterranean beaches, but many people miss out on the wonderful beaches on the Cantabrian Sea in the north. The beaches are just as wonderful, but neither nearly as crowded or as hot. check out the link below to all of the beaches in Asturias, Spain.

La Manga del Mar Menor

by solopes

Funny place! For many years I heard that La Manga del Mar Menor was one of the best beaches for kids in Spain, but, for my surprise, I couldn't find it in VT. In location I noticed that it is mainly a residential beach, dominated by Spanish and a few Portuguese. However, it is really good and we spent there a very good week, in the warm, shallow and crystal clear water.

Sphering in Marbella Spain

by jofredfeet

Two people get inside a 12ft ball and roll down a hill thats about 150m, at a speed of about 25mph. You can't see anything but eachother and the inside of the ball! You are not strapped to anything and they do put some cold water in there with you to splash around in! It is a terrific experience that I'd recommend for any thrill seeker. It's different and they even give you a certificate when you are finished! :D (I would recommend a bathing suit!)
