the al hambra is an ancient moorish palace with the spectacular sierra nevada mountains as its backdrop. the place is amazing. you can walk round for hours admiring the architecture and decoration. it is incredibly peaceful and has a real spiritual vibe about the place. Take a packed lunch and eat it next to the reflecting pool.

If you appreciate modern art, visit the Dali Museum in Figueres. You will be surrounded literally head to toe with gorgeous surrealist work. Dali's paintings belong to a huge art movement, and are part of the Spanish culture, so this museum is worth exploring.
Vigo is the most densely populated city in Galicia. It is a beautiful and modern town. Great gardens and beautiful beaches are some of its beauty.Samil is a beach in the town of Vigo. This enormous beach has all kinds of infrastructures. The rear of the beach, as well as including a playground with swimming pools, also has a large pine grove. The Cíes islands are opposite this popular beach and on the left is Torolla island. Among the activities offered is kayak hire.
If you are ever lucky enough to visit, be sure you take the time to appreciate the architecture. Gaudi is perhaps one of the most interesting of spanish Architects. For one thing, he never used straight lines. For another, his work is all over the city of Barcelona. the Sagrada Familia, a work still in progress even after his death, is an amazing dedication on his part, both architecturally and artistically speaking. Guell park is also an architectural phenomenon, featuring houses that look like they're made of candy, a long serpent bench constructed to fit every type of back, and lizards statues are scattered over the park. When it rains, water pours out these lizards' mouths. It didn't rain when I was there, but I'm sure it's amazing. The park, along with much of his work, is very colorful and has a mozaic feel to it. My husband was born in Spain. He has family there so we travel there every year. We have traveled all over Spain and have visitied many cities. If you are traveling there and want suggestions, recommendations, references to helpful websites please let me know. It is a beautiful country with the nicest people, old traditions, and wonderful cuisine.
The opening ceremony on July 6th (noon) is not to be missed. A rocket is launched from the town square then the sangria begins to flow for the next week. Don't be surprised if you are coated with mustard, ketchup and flour. Some obnoxious tradition the teenagers like to take part in.
The Generalife is set off from the rest of palace and was begun in the 13th century. It consists of several smaller buidings that served as a summer palace and is venerated for its fabulous gardens. These gardens are some of the most beautiful I have ever seen. It was here that the sultans would retreat to during those hot days in Granada. Admission to the Generalife is included with the ticket to the Alhambra.
The Alhambra in Granada is one of the most famed palaces in all of Europe. For the most part it was built by the Moors during their occupation of Spain in medieval times. The Alhambra is divided into three sections, the Alcazaba, The Palacios Nazaries and the General Life. The Alcazaba was the first section of the Alhambra to be built. It was begun in the 11th century by Ziridians who built this fortification on top of a rocky outcrop that dominates the valley of the River Darro. There was considerable reconstruction on these fortifications up until the 14th century when the Palacios Nazaries(Royal Palaces) were built. This section of the Alhambra is famed for the "Court of the Lions"(a famed fountain and residences) and for the highly decorative Moorish walls and ceilings. The Alhambra is without doubt one of the greatest Arabic palaces ever built and serves as a wonderful introduction...
