The major city located on the south coast of Andalucia. It has a great Feria (festival) held in August every summer. Also worth visiting are the Gibalfaro and Alcazaba, the fortified castle and palace over looking the city. A few interesting Museums here too, including the new Picaso museum. Also of interest is the Roman Theatre and the Cathedral, known as the one armed cathedral because it second tower was never completed.More information at my Malaga page.
A resort city 60 kms west of Malaga, along with its neighbour Puerto Banus is very popular with the jet-set. Great beaches and dont miss the Old town (Casco Antigua) district, especially at night.Although it does not have too much history or buildings of great antiquity, there are a few buildings worth visiting. The town is very well served with bars and restaurants (restaurants especially so) and many of a very high quality. Take a drive into the hills from the Costa del Sol, to Ronda and the white villages. A city which straddles a high gorge. Very impressive scenery, especially of the bridges and gorge itself. The old town quarter is worth a walk through also, with its Moorish architecture, and the oldest bullring in Spain and museum.More information and pictures on my Ronda page.
An Island of contrasts, a rugged coastline with some of the best beaches to be found anywhere, the beauty of the hills, the chic nightlife of Ibiza Town, the tacky rowdy nightlife of San Antonio. On top of this some of the most lively and interesting clubs to be found anywhere, with the worlds top DJ's playing through the summer season. Dont be put off by this, you can have a wild party holiday or a relaxed vacation in the sun, contrasts.
Alicante a busy city, with its historical castle of Santa Barbara. Its resort and beaches are at Playa San Juan a few miles to the east.Well worth a visit. Its serve by an airport which is the main port of entry to Costa Blanca.
Benidorm, a resort town very popular with British package holiday makers. Lively nightlife in the British quarter of the town, but not to everyones taste. For a more authentic Spanish experience go to the Old town. Has good beaches, but they are crowded July, August and September.
A busy city with much history attatched to it. At its center the cathedral, and what is claimed to be the chalice or Holy Grail, is on display. There is much to see and explore in the city and the nightlife is very good.
A totally unspoilt gem of a city, in the province of Malaga. Not yet discovered by mass tourism, but it has much to offer. It's History dates from the Paleolithic to the present, with the 5000 year old Dolmen's of Menga, located just outside the town. The Phonecians, Romans, Visigoths, Moors and the later Christians all helped to mould the city to what it is today.The nearby natural park of 'El Torcal' is also very much worth a visit, with unbelievable rock formations sculpted over time on the limestone plateau.More information on my Antiquera and Villanueva de la Conception pages.
One of the pretty white villages that roll down the hills of Andalucia. Ojen is located in the Sierra Blanca Mountains not far from the coastal resort of Marbella. A small city located 40 minutes from Granada. Its famous for its Barrio de las Trogladitas, a district where many people still live in caves. The city also has much to see from its history, with a nice cathedral and castle.
