Dying of Hunger and Gastric Pains in Spain

by naruto

Spain has very late meal-times.....like 9pm for dinner. To prevent from keeling over with hunger, or severe gastric pains due to lack of food......visit tapas bars. These snacks will be more than enough to tide you over. You may not even need dinner........

I saw it with my own eye's!BECAREFUL

by iloveeurope

I know people tell you to watch out for your pockets because of pickpocketers.Well I recently went to spain for spring break with my family, and a group. We went to go eat at a resturant inside. While we were eating there some members of our group were eating there as well, but they were a table away from us. Then this old man and im guessing his son, came and sat inbetween us. I noticed that a hostess didn't sit them down so i watched them. The old guy tried to pickpocked a guy that i knew from our group i wasnt' quite sure what he was doing. Because i couldn't see because of the table. Because the guy in our group had his JACKET ON THE BACK OF HIS CHAIR and the old guy put his jacket by the guy in our groups so when he dug underneath he could pickpocket him. So as i left i told that guy what happened and so the pickpocketers left the resturant and us alone. Be careful and safe.

Pickpockets

by Patricialuv

In Spain, like in any other developed country, has many tourists, which also leads to many pickpocketers. You have to be careful you are not alone, and have a watchful eye on all your belongings. I went with 47 people and there was no incident of theft. We were careful and succeeded this way.

Don't get stung!

by asturnut

The absolute worst memory I have of Spain is stinging nettle. Aparently there are forms of stinging nettle in almost every country, but Spain is the first and only place I ever encountered it and it is HORRIBLE. It looks like a perfectly innocent weed, but if you've got sensative skin-- look out! It gave me a burning stinging rash that lasted for days. It has little tiny hairs that are invisible, sort of like a cactus, that once you touch it, you're a gonner. At the base of these hairs is a poison, that once released causes a really nasty reaction. So if you go into any wild places, be on the look-out. (In defense of nettle, it does have all kinds of herbal and health uses if you cook it, but you've got to get past the sting...)

Basque Country

by iandsmith

As you will undoubtedly know from your news bulletins from time to time, the Basques are serious about wanting separation. Bombs do go off, people do get shot. They are not after tourists is the good news, the bad news is that they do it at all.You may see these flags around in northern Spain (this one in San Sebastian, sorry, Donostia if you're Basque). They indicate that the Basque who are being held prisoner should be transferred back to Basque country so their relatives and friends can visit etc.

by blos

The main road between San Antonio and Ibiza town can be dangerous especially if you're on a moped. Pedestrians should take care when crossing. I have a few accidents on this road and i didn't really travel it that often. The route via Sant Josep is a much more picturesque and safer option although it takes longer.

Well guess what? Since this page has been in existence, it has gotten some very nice reviews... but certainly a number of reviews by people who have said 'I would never go to a bullfight!' I understand this completely. I understand the disgust that people feel about the killing of animals. It may seem a heartless and cruel thing we do, the killing of animals, to survive on this planet... and I have heard all the arguments and reasons why this so offends people.I don't mention this point in order to enter into the argument, because vegetarians will never be swayed, nor will the lovers of a juicy steak among us. Bullfighting is a peculiar thing. What is the attraction? From a psychoanalytical point of view (a view I am not unfamiliar with) the blood, sweat, sex, danger, struggle between life and death, are all points worth discussing. But in reality, at this point in this little...

It's just a warning: 1) bear in mind that all beaches in Spain are municipal, they are not attached to hotels. 2) bear in mind that in Costa Brava and Costa del Maresme there is railway along the sea coast (except Lloret de Mar), so to reach the beach you'll have to cross the railway every time.

When visiting Barcelona, you have to watch your back when walking near 'Las Ramblas' and the 'Cólon'. There are a lot of pickpockets and I had a fight with one of them. This time I was lucky and I could take back my wallet with my doc´s. The money, I am looking for it until now but I could take the thieth wallet, too. After that, I spent 4 hours on the police department and could see that it hapens all the time. Take care and good luck!
