Airport bus from/to Svalbard Longyear Airport

by Saagar

There is a scheduled bus service that takes care of your transport needs from/to the airport if you stay in the hotels and guesthouses in Longyearbyen. They are there on flight arrival and do not leave before the last passenger has left the terminal arrival hall. They deposit passengers in their respective hotels. The bus baggage rooms are marked with the different hotel names. On your departure they have scheduled routes well ahead of flight departures. Many people have special baggage check-ins, and the bus schedule does leave room for such extra activity. Check your hotel reception for the schedules. The fare between LYR and the hotels is a flat NOK 40.

Taxi in Longyearbyen

by Saagar

There is a taxi service in Longyearbyen. Useful for taking you from one venue to the next, such as carry you back to the hotel from a night out at Huset. You can also prebook for your flight departure (or arrival) and take you out to the far corners of the road network, such as to mine No 7 and Bjørndalen for hiking or skiing.

Cruises with M/S Nordstjernen

by globetrott

Another great coastal-cruiseline might be this one, that I store here for my personal use , and maybe it might be of some help for others as well. This is a cruise I will certainly make one day, as it offers to land at many places, where the big cruise-ships will have to pass by without landing. !

Flying to Svalbard

by wideview

There are daily flights to Svalbard from Oslo and Tromso, usually operated by Braathens with Boeing 737 and SAS with MD80. Flight time from Tromso is about 1 hour and 40 minutes, or three hours from Oslo (nonstop) or 4 hours and an half from Oslo via Tromso. The flight schedule non always connects easily with other international flights and sometimes an overnight in Oslo or Tromso may be required, especially on some days of the week.

Braathens flies to Svalbard...

by jarto

Braathens flies to Svalbard from Tromsö, Norway. The plane lands at the local airport where the airport bus takes you to your hotel. Well, this can be said about any city I guess One more picture. Here's a beautiful one showing Longyearbyen and a great shot of those beautiful mountains.
