A very good museum is the Marina Museum in Karlskrona. It gives information on all aspects of civil and military sailing and boating. You will see boats, ships and get information on the life on boats. There is even a tunel with windows into the sea below the museum. I enjoyed my stay very much and spent quite some time there.

You need to hire a car for this and drive north into Småland where you will find the heart of the Swedish glass industry. Kosta Boda is one of a number of glass factories in the area. They were originally located in the forests so they were close to an unlimited supply of fuel to power the ovens. At Kosta Boda, you can watch demonstrations of glass blowing, tour the small museum and get some good value at the factory shop. You can also try your hand at glass blowing and the kids can paint their own plates.

Our motto is Quality and Concern. The training and education offered at the Institute are of a high quality by both national and international standards. We also make high demands on our staff when it comes to knowledge and expertise.
Students are assured of individual attention from teaching staff thanks to the small size of our groups. The lines of communication are short and personal involvement high. As a result, we are able to cater for the needs of staff and students alike.
Blekinge Institute of Technology has an Applied IT focus. Our aim is to occupy a leading position within this field, and to develop close links with the local community. We work closely with local industry and public organisations. Indeed, half of our research budget is directed towards such ends.
We very much hope that you will choose to study at Blekinge Institute of Technology, and wish to assure you of a warm welcome.

The Town Square is the focal point for the town on the highest point on Trossö surrounded by symbols of religion and law (not to mention a couple of bars). In the middle is a statue of King Karl XI.
The square is one of the largest in Northern Europe, I read somewhere that only Red Sqaure in Moscow is bigger but I can't believe that.
At the weekends there is a market and earlier this year, there was a circus based on the town square.

One weekend every summer is the annual Sail Weekend in Karlskrona. Basically a load of boats come to town and there is some other entertainments going on around the harbour.
If you are into boats and things like that and in the area when it's on, check it out.
The picture is from Sail 2003. It's a Russian sail ship, apparently its the biggest of it's kind in the world

There are lots of historically interesting buildings and technical constructions, such as for exampel the Polhem's dock and you can also get a glimpse of some naval boats or submarines (the Swedish submarines are very small, though). Guided walks are arranged by the tourist office at the big square. (Since the area is still in use by the Navy you can't go in on your own).

It is just very beautiful. I guess some more detailed description might come later on...
I'll give the description of how to get there here, since there isn't space under any other title: Boats take off from the square Fisktorget on the central island Trossö (and from the small village Torhamn) during the summer (May-August). To the bigger islands in the inner part of the archipelago there are bridges and you can get there by busses or car or sometimes by boat. To Aspö a ferry takes off from the harbour Handelshamnen.

A dressin is a kind of bike which is used on railways. You can go by such ones under the central square in a tunnel which was built probably for connecting the harbour with the railway. I enjoyed this a lot when I was a kid! In the tunnel there is usually some kind of exhibition made by for example school kids, with a theme like ghosts (not too scary, though :) ) or something historical and it's a bit dark and some drops of water are falling from the roofs.

Great circus! Great acrobats, dancers and clowns from all over the world. The Spanish clown Sousso was so terribly fun! I thought clowns were a thing mostly for children, but this one was really great. It isn't a permanent circus, shows take place in a big tent during two weeks in February every year until 2006. (During those weeks there are several different shows, and performances almost every night and afternoon). This year (2003) the shows take place in the evenings and afternoons between 5th and 16th of February.
