  • You can go by train from most places in Sweden or from Copenhagen in Denmark, or you can go by car. There is a ferry from Gdynia in Poland. You can also go by airplane to the airport in Kallinge/Ronneby, which is however usually the most expensive way.
In the summer, I recommend cycling. Then you can enjoy the city and nature in the best way, and at the same time it won't take too much time to go to different places. If you want to rent a bike, one place where you can do that, and where I think it is cheap, is at the tourist office at the big square Stortorget (behind the church Fredrikskyrkan). Walking, public busses, boats in the archipelago or driving a car are other ways.

  • Stenaline has ferries that goes between Gdynia and Karlskrona. I haven't gone by these ferries myself, but for those interested I can recommend the website which looong address is written below in this tip. At that site you can find schedules, prizes in Polish zloty and much more information. I'm sorry this tip is not based on my personal experience really, but it might be good to know where to find the information.

You can take Stena Line from Gdynia to Karlskrona. This is nice trip taking about 10 hours. There is good restaurant, disco, and even cinema. Your trip will be not boring.

  • The nearest airport to Karlskrona is at Ronneby (RNB) which is 20km away. They offer direct flights to Stockholm and Copenhagen. A bus runs from Karlskrona to Ronneby Airport to meet up with every Stockholm flight.

Stena run a daily ferry service to Gdynia in Poland. The journey takes 10 hours. Two ferries are used on this route. One is used mainly to carry lorries and has limited facilites on board. The 2nd ferry has a couple of bars and a disco but the cabins are slightly smaller.

The train service to Karlskrona is fairly good. Direct links can be found to Gothenburg (4 hours 20 mins) and routes with connections can be found to Malmo and Stockholm as well as most other places in Sweden.

The station is centrally located across the road from the main bus stop (it can't be described as a station). Inside the station, you'll find a small shop, ticket office and ticket collection machine.

In Oct 2007, the direct service to Copenhagen started operating again after upgrades to the track which took a couple of years.
