Head means "heath" and here you have a 6 hectare nature reserve full of the typical flora of sandy areas. This was also the famous drilling place for the Dala regiment until 1908 so there are several unusually well kept army barracks from the 18th century and onwards. This huge field is also used for concerts and sporting events throughout the year.

Originally built as a cathedral in the 15th century, which is why it is now very large for being a provincial church, something that happened when the Dalecarlia and Västerås dioceses merged into Västerås only. Apart from being a nice church, this is where you find Jussi Björling's grave.

This 16th century timber house is so famous it became a museum already 1758. The reason? King Gustav Vasa, one of our most famous national characters, hid here once when chased by the Danes. Legend has it that he escaped through the bog hole...! :))) If he hadn't escaped, Swedish history would have looked a lot different as he has given his name to all sorts of castle architecture and god knows what we would have to call our crisp bread, ski race and sunken ships without him!

Jussi was one of Sweden's, and even the world's most famous opera singers and born in Borlänge. The museum shows you photos, programmes and some costumes and also tries to tell you whom he really was as a person. Since he was a man of fame, you will find all explanations in English too.
