McGills: Decent pub
Still going strong since my last visit ten years ago, this pub now had our local Yorkshire bitter too! Apart from that and typical Swedish and other British brews you get Czech and Irish on tap and there are also several good whiskies. Great mix of friendly people of all ages and a selection of international pub grub.
Favorite Dish: John Smiths :-)

Konditori Lido: 60s Cafe
A Swedish bakery and cafe at its best. Relaxed atmosphere and a good selection of cakes and drinks. This one has half a boat added to its interior which is otherwise with its 50s-60s style decorations left.
Favorite Dish: Hot chocolate with whipped cream. Nothing like it after an encounter with the Christmas ram.

Royal India: Best Indian in Sweden???
Amazing...After an evening at the pub, me and my husband decided to round the evening off with a curry as we knew there was an Indian somewhere in town. We found it thanks to friendly locals and had the restaurant almost to ourselves. The chef turned out to have had a curry house in England before (now there's a surprise...) and heaven knows what he was doing in Gävle but we are happy that he is there as it was the best curry we have ever had in Sweden!
Favorite Dish: Vegetarian tali - a mix of four dishes which saw the korma come with properly roasted almond chunks and the spinach paneer was to die for!

Church Street Saloon: Church Street Saloon
Inspired from the western this restaurant doesn't just give you excellent food - the atmosphere really take you back to the 'good old western'
Favorite Dish: Shrimps served in a fry-pan with tortilla.
