A narrow road on Gotland by vec Dare to leave the main roads, and just see where you get. Gotland is full of narrow forest roads, and many of them will lead to something worth seeing, even if it's not the main tourist attractions as described in the guide books. Gotland is full of such hidden things to explore. Leave a Comment

Stenkusten by vec In the far north of Gotland you will find the area called Stenkusten. If you have access to a car, I would recommend you to take a trip to this area. Maybe bring some good food, and have a picnic and watch the sun set in the horizon of the Baltic sea. Check out more photos from Stenkusten. Leave a Comment

It's just so beautiful! by jacob_m If visiting Gotland, don't be too focused on visiting sights. Take the car and go to the countryside on a picknick. Find your own favourite part of the long coast and just enjoy the nature, the silence and the beautiful beaches. Gotland is an ultimate destination for stressed people who need to calm down. I have only passed this village by bus so I have no photos, but just about 10 kilometres north-east of Visby, along the Fårösund road, you find this amazing place. First you come across a huge cairn (stone mound) where some local chieftain has his final resting place. Then you arrive at the village itself where the old medieval church has both a stone arch and one of the famous Gotland picture stones with a "whirl" to look at, not to mention several other standing stones as well as Gotland legends. I will definately return here and that's a promise. When dealing with Bro, you have to know that you can get turned to stone if you break your promises. Leave a Comment

by Sjalen About 8 kilometres north of Visby is this pretty little harbour with its old fisherman's huts where you can sometimes stumble upon someone selling their catch. If not, you might want to time the sunset instead. You come across Själsö if you bike along the Gotland trail northwards and it is also signposted from the main road 149. Leave a Comment

Old Gotland houses by vec You will find old houses like this all over Gotland. The architecture on Gotland is not really the same as in the rest of Sweden, and it's really worth to take some time to check all old beautiful houses. Leave a Comment

The old wall of Torsburgen by El_Sueco The greatest ancient fortress in Sweden. It is located on a natural hill, near Kräklingbo. The walls can be 24 m wide, up to 7 m high and the wall has a length of 2 kilometers. it is calculated that it was needed 3000-4000 men for a period of 3 years to build this, one think it was constructed in 400-500 A.D. On the north side there are some caves. Total highness on some spots 68 m with the natural cliffs. See also the Kräklingbo page. Picture is taken at 'Ardre Lucka' (The Ardre Check Point).
