When arriving by Cruise Ship, you will be anchored at sea, and come ashore by Tender.

Visby is only small, so it's really very easy to walk around, as long as you are fit enough to climb the hills.
I really can't see the necessity to do a tour of the Town, but I will leave that up to you.

I must say I felt sorry for people who had booked scenic tours of the island, as the fog was so thick, they would not have seen anything.

We didn't find a lot to see here, and returned to the Ship early, a 1st for us!

    Stick to the Traffic Rules

by MikeAtSea Written Aug 14, 2007

Sweden has a zero tolerance attitude towards breaking traffic rules. My driver was pulled over at 9 am in the morning for alcohol testing and there is police presence all over the country. A speeding fine or any other traffic violations can be quiet expensive!

Steep Steps Could Lead to Broken Hips!!

Visby's cobblestone streets are very charming, but some of them have very steep inclines. In some places there are also steep steps (like those near St. Mary's Cathedral). These all can be hazardous in good weather, but if it rains they can be downright dangerous for those who are not steady of foot!! Therefore, hard-soled shoes may not be the best choice for a walkabout in Visby. Consider wearing rubbersoled shoes or sandals for safety and comfort, particularly if you intend to do alot of sightseeing on foot!
