There is a few harbours surrounding Halmstad where you can stay with your boat.
The best way to getting around is by car or bike.
You can also take the bus or walk.

Halmstad has been selected Cycle City of the Year in Sweden in 2004, and everyone seems to bike here. For a start, you can arrive here throgh "Ginstleden", a cycle path through Halland. But if not, you can just rent a bike here and make your way to the beach 9 kilometres away, or bike along the disused railway line towards Simlångsdalen.

All trains between Malmö and Gothenburg stop at Halmstad so there are frequent connections. If you catch a Malmö train to Halmstad, chances are that it actually started its journey in Copenhagen and in that case also stopped at Copenhagen airport so Halmstad has good connections with the World as long as the trains are on time.

Getting around Halmstad is easy by local bus. Surprisingly enough, the railway station only has one short bus line passing it, but then again it is easy to walk to the centre still. There are buses in all directions, including to countryside villages, and a particularly frequent service to Tylösand beach. The main bus station is at the eastern side of the river, near Picassoparken but you also have plenty of town buses passing the main square (Stora Torg).

Q: I'll be traveling in Sweden between Christmas and New Years and am curious about things to see and do to the east of Halmstad....
A: there is more or less nothing special too see in halmstad,you can either prefer to come to Lund,Malmo or Goteborg for sightseeing type of activities.
