Tylösand Things to Do

  • Roxette records

This is where they're hiding - all those silver and gold sales from all over the world that local band Roxette have scraped together. Quite a few actually :))) In the downstairs bar at Hotel Tylösand is where you can find so many that they're even in the bar cloak room...some people, hey!

  • Hit the beach

Whether you are going for a swim yourself or just some beach volley or bird watching (of all sorts) or boat spotting or simply going for a walk, enjoying the scenery, the beach is where it is. Above the dunes you get this gorgeous view of it all.

  • Tylön

The Tylö Island is of course only reachable to those of you with a boat, but this is what it looks like with its lighthouse. It is a nature reserve so should you land here, you cannot make up fires or anything.

Carlos has a lunch menu which is perfectly OK but I guess its evening menu is even nicer. Along the main road in Tylösand, lots of people find their way here and you can see people coming and going. At lunch you will find pies. schnitzels, salads and some other things on the menu but in the evenings it is more of a proper a la carte. The staff are very friendly and apart from the relaxed inside setting there is a bit of a latino style outdoor bar area which I guess gets quite lively at night.

Favorite Dish: Schnitzel - nothing at all like the Austrian version but perfectly OK.

Hotel Tylösand has its downstairs bar with all the Roxette memorabilia and loads of cocktails on the menu. There is also a stage next to the beach (second pic). It also has Bettans Bar with outdoor seaview rigth above the dunes. Your choice but it's probably going to be fun whichever you pick and it is sooo easy to mingle. :) Just bring loads of crowns to spend - it's not cheap. If you spend the day at the beach, you will find lots of flyers about discos and so on when you leave in the late afternoon.

    Dress Code: Decent.

Tylösand has Scandinavia's only beach life rescue school and you won't have any trouble finding it, right down by the beach.

Tylösand Warnings and Dangers

The usual beach dangers are of course here too, but your main danger is if you get drunk at the hotel and decide to go for a swim :))) Daytime, the "baywatch" people of Tylösand are there to keep an eye on you and there are no nasty sharks or anything here. If you swim with children, there is not that far to walk before it gets deeper (contrary to some beaches where you seem to walk forever) but the change in colour gives you the hint of where it starts to get deeper.

This is one of the golf meccas of Sweden and since we've got a few golf stars on the international circuit, that's saying something, To be ctd.

Sure, the water will never get as warm as the Med or elsewhere until climate change is well under way but on a hot day, who cares! The beach is looong and doesn't feel that crowded even on the sunniest of days. It is also clean and with enough conveniences to give it an EU Blue Flag (second pic). There is a cafe at the stairs down from the Tylösand...

Favorite thing: I just love sitting at Bettans Bar on the beach side of the Hotel Tylösand and look at the sea, the sand and people enjoying life. All this whilst sipping a beer - honestly, life doesn't get a lot better on a sunny day! Even Alice is starting to look like Per Gessle :)
