    Kalmar Things to Do

I had planned to Kalmar the visit of the castle, referred in my guide as an impressive construction from the 12th century, rebuilt in the 16th to transform it in a palace. Bad luck, we arrived too late, and only could admire it from outside. Even in the dusk, however, we could notice the strenght of the fortification and the harmony of the whole.

In mid July the town is absolutely packed as people come to experience the Song Festival founded by one of ABBA Björn's local friends. • Walking

    Norra Kvill National Park Transportation

Walking is the only way to see the park. From the car park there is a path by the main entrance, which takes you to the lake and then around it if you care to go on. The paths are clearly marked but still very much forest paths, which means you will have to keep your eyes out for rocks, root systems and such here and there.

Norra Kvill National Park Warnings and Dangers

Norra Kvill IS a national park and therefore, it is kept as wild as possible and most trees are left to decay in their natural way. This means that even along the paths, you will sometimes have to walk around a huge tree even though then of course it will have been checked by the foresters and considered safe to tackle. Having said that, the 8...

Målerås was a surprise to me. • Trekki's Profile Photo

by Trekki Updated Aug 12, 2013

Pukeberg is famous for lamps and for colourful utility glass. They also do little glass objects like animals (small, approx. 5 cm), vases, transparent utility glass and much more. Have a look at their website to get ideas of what to expect. It was the first glass factory and shop I visited during my 3 days stay in the region because it was the one farthest from my accommodation at Bergdala. Somehow I wasn’t tempted to purchase goods already because I knew that I would get Bergdala and Kosta items. Now, in retrospective, I wish I had bought at least some of these cute glass fruit. Ok, next time.

    Directions:
Pukeberg Hytta is located east of Växjo in the outskits of Nybro city. From Växjö, drive road 25 eastward until Nybro, follow the signs for Kalmar until you see the sign for Pukeberg Glass Bruk. From the exit, it is less than 1 km on the right side of the road.

Location of Pukeberg on Google Maps.
