    Bronze Age graves

by Sjalen Updated Dec 2, 2006

Both sides of the main road back to Älmhult has ancient burial monuments just a few hundred metres from the roadside and into the forest you see here, close to the church, and indeed part of the Ecclesiastical Nature reserve.

    Kronan Nature Reserve

by Sjalen Written Apr 3, 2005

Kronan is a tiny nature reserve on the Möckelsnäs peninsula, just where the spruce (or what is left of it after the great storm) gives way to beautiful beech forest. Here you can spot smaller birds of prey and various other birds, beetles and frogs. You can just walk through the more accessible parts of it by following this road - the "main" one to and from Möckelsnäs mansion which gives you these nice views down to the lake.

    Taxås Klint

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

A nature reserve where you walk (15 minutes) through the spruce forest up to a crest from which you have a great view of the large lake Möckeln below you and miles of forest. The area has been used for stone quarrying so there is also a mysterious water filled hole up there to watch out for. You can then take the stairs down to the lakeside and look at the piles of huge stones still left as well as go for a quiet swim. Back at the parking you can look at the stone age burial mound and admire a typical Småland forest farm, though today without animals. The whole road further out is worth exploring both by car and by foot if you enjoy the scenery. Taxås is signposted from Stenbrohult. There are more pics in the travelogue.
