It's winter and the lake is all frozen..... so how to get around on the lake during this time of year ?? Go ice yachting!!! hahaha, or whatever the name of this activity may be.
This picture was taken at the harbour of Sundbyholm. Besides these ice yachts you often see people ice skating here as well. So if you decide to come here in the winter, don't forget to take a pare of skates with you! Or your ice yacht of course ;-))

Lake Mälaren is the third largest lake in Sweden. So a "must" when visiting this region, is going on a boattrip on the lake. A good suggestion for a trip is this one: From Stockholm to Gripsholm Castle and the village of Mariefred.
Gripsholm Castle and Mariefred are 70 kilometres west of Stockholm. An enjoyable way to get to the castle is by taking the coal-fired steamboat "SS Mariefred". The trip to get from Stockholm by steamboat to the castle takes 3.5 hours one way.
The S/S Mariefred is the last coal burning steamer in original condition. The steamboat sails every day (except Mondays) between Stockholm and Mariefred, but only during the summer month.
The departure time from Stockholm is 10.00, and it arrives at Mariefred 13.30. The steamship departs from Mariefred at 16.30 and arrives in Stockholm 20.00.
A return ticket costs 180 SEK and a one way: 120 SEK
