Just next to Arjeplog nature its displayed at its best. If you like bird-watching (flycatchers, buntings and swallows) or simply strolling in an untouched area you will love this. The nature reservoir next to the city offers you the possibility to walk, the otherwise muddy wetlands, by taking a wooden path that crosses shrubs and rivers spotted with berry bushes and lively small birds. There are small huts avilable to spend the night, I'm not sure if you can just use it or reservation at the tourist office is needed, check it! These little "stugas" have grills to make fire. I would not recommend to stroll this wet area if there are many moswuitos around.

He (or was it she?) seemed to keep guard by the roadside between Arvidsjaur and Arjeplog as we passed him several times, looking for something we thought we had lost. He may have been begging for food. He was collared so must have had an owner (Santa Claus perhaps?) and was not at all afraid of us. I wanted to pat him - he looked so cuddly. If you happen to travel that way, he may be there again.

On our way from Poland to the Lofoten we only passed through Lappland, which looked very wild and deserted - an expanse of not very high woods and marshlands.
