If you're only staying for a weekend, you don't need a huge suitcase. Just a backpack and maybe another bag.
Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: If you're going in the winter, it's very cold there, so bring warm clothes. Bring ski pants if you have a pair. Warm boots too.
Toiletries and Medical Supplies: Your own prescriptions and any other medicines you normally bring on trips. An extra pair of glasses or contacts if you wear them.
Photo Equipment: A normal camera and film is fine.
I was here end of August and it was damn cold. We had frost at night and in the morning it started snowing. So bring warm clothes!!
The region of Kiruna is grassland which means mosquitos in the warmer periodes. Do not miss your neoprene suit! :-D

Bring your warmest clothes! The lot: hat, gloves and the most important - good shoes and socks. Your toes will get frozen first!
Photo Equipment: Keep your camera close to your body, in a pocket of your jacket for example. Anyone who's tried to take a photo in -30C knows how quickly it will freeze! (not to talk about your fingers! :)
