Bring cash with you! No ATM at the airport..
As of Jan 30th, 2014, there was no ATM in the airport at Kiruna.
I probably am the only bright guy to rely too much on the widespread use of credit cards in Sweden (everywhere, any shop, restaurant, B&B, bus, even street vendors..!), but when me and my friends got to Kiruna we had no cash..
My friend even asked while in Stockholm Arlanda airport, standing next to a wonderful ATM machine: "Are you sure we don't need to withdraw?" "Noooooo, there will surely be an ATM at the airport in Kiruna!". I mean, there is one in tiny Göteborg City airport!
Well, the bus for the city center only accepted cash, no ATM, no way of finding a free cab!
My bad! But still...
Moving the town centre
The future is unsure in Kiruna itself. Geologists have found long cracks in the bedrock, right under the centre, and whilst they pose no imminent danger, it means that parts of the town centre will have to move. The railway station area as soon as within ten years, others no later than 30 years from now! No one knows quite who will pay for this move either. State owned LKAB mines have used most of their spare capital and is the rest of Sweden interested in paying? Or should the mines just shut down despite the fact that there is more iron ore in them? No one can yet tell. If you have been to Kiruna, here is a map that will show you the three cracked zones, as well as a BBC article:

You are in Lapland here, and, of course, there might be mosquitoes during the summer, but don't worry, usually it is not a problem in the city, and even if it is, there are solutions for the problems.
It's very cold up there...
Since Kiruna is above the Arctic Circle, it can get very cold. We were lucky to be there on a weekend when it wasn't too cold, but we heard it can get extremely cold at times. Bring warm clothes. And be careful about frostbite and things like that. If it's extremely cold out, don't stand outside for too long.

Don't use your horn
When you're in a situation like this. Because of the steep ravines belong the roads in northern Sweden and Norway the reindeers have to walk an the road sometime. Many people horn to get them to move. This is very wrong, they all get stressed up by this and it often ends up in a chaos. Then we have those who are very exited and drive very slow and take tons of photos from the car. It's better to do that. But locals often horns at you because they don't understand what the "big deal" is...
So there are no perfect way to handle this situation, but I often take it very easy and when I see a gap in the herd I usually hurry to get there.
Do not disturb them.
Bring warm clothes!!

Even if you're not going dogledding, snow-mobiling etc, make sure to dress well! It's cold even to go outside for only 10 mins. Wear double pants and gloves!
If your nose or fingers gets white, make sure to warm them up again otherwise you'll freeze them!
There are many mosquitoes in...
There are many mosquitoes in Lappland during the summer. They are somewhat annoying, so bring a good insect repelent.
