When tracking the 19 km from Nikkaluokta to the Kebnekaijse Alpin Center (or going back again) you will pass the Ladtjojaore lake, where I recommend that you will go by the motor boat some kilometers to save your legs and to get a little rest. But, you also have to visit the small cafe at the lower boat landing.
When it is raining (which it does sometimes) or you are cold (if it is that sort of weather!) or you are just warm and thirsty (which will happen when carrying your backpack) what is better than a small, nice and friendly local cafe? Just a few dishes, but you will admit they have exactly what you want, sweet or salt!
Distance from Nikkaluokta 6 km (1,5 hours)
Distance from Kebnekaijse Alpin Centre 13 km (or 8 km [2,5 hours] walking and 20 minutes by bout; check boat times at Alpine Centre)
(add some minutes more for resting on the way)
If you are staying at Nikkaluokta you can make the excursion walking back and forth in some hours.
Open: From about Eastertime to middle of September.
Favorite Dish: Waffles with cloudberry jam and cream. Home made jam(!) and lots of it!
Also try the reindeer burger.
Ladtjojaure What to Pack
If you are planning a trip to this region it is good to have your map before you travel here. A good website to buy your detailed maps of Sweden and the Fjällen area is:http://www.lantmateriet.se/
I bought all my maps here. Not only for the Fjällen, but also for other regions and trips in Sweden. The map I used for this region is map BD6 Abisko-Kebnekaise and BD8 Kebnekaise - Saltokuokta and costs 99,50 SEK (excl. shipping). The scale is 1:100.000. (alternatively: choose English language, top left side, then in the menu NATIONAL MAP SERIES, Fjällkartan, Fjällkartan 1:100.000 - folded). The stretch between Kebnekaise to Singi is visible on both maps BD6 and BD8.
You can get an overview of all the "Fjäll" maps they sell here: Maps of the Swedish Fjällen
Alternatively you can buy the maps at the Mountain Huts that have a shop (which is approx. every other Mountain Hut). There is no shop in Singi, but there is in Kebnekaise.
