Octangular burial vaults. Here the family Douglas is resting in five copper coffins and three marble urns.
Cound Robert Douglas, Field Marshal, died in 1662. He is buried in the central coffin, his four sons in the others.
On the walls are coloured burial shields.
Robert Douglas did build the Stjärnorp castle that can be seen on the north-west side of Roxen, just 6 km from the cloister.
The castle was damaged by a fire in 1789 and has been left since that with window holes and a fallen roof. There is always a flag at top of the castle. You can not come in, sign says it is private ground. What a pity!

Behind the church is the cloister.
This was a cloister for nuns. It was founded in 1110 A.D. The cloister was withdrawn by the king Gustav Vasa in 1550. After the deaths of the last nuns the cloister was demolished, only left was the church.
The reminicences of the buildings that were still left were restaurated in 1915-26.

Note the fenced entry door, that separated the cloister from the public. It was opened during the Reformation age. This event must have been a tremendous change for the people in that time.
