Going to a local auction

by Maline

In summer all around rural Sweden there are auctions going on, you know the kind where you bid on things and the highest bid wins...I have been to many of these, and this is an opportunity to make real bargains. Often the whole spectacle is full of people, set outdoors, and a real ”festilval” where local people show up from all around to see the offers. The speaker will be talking in Swedish of course, but if you approach him or her in advance, and make your presence known, and tell what items you plan to bid on, then keep close to the front, you may get some help to translate the sums.As i have stated before, Swedes are definitely eager to help tourists, but you have to ask for it, we are not the most "open" people, and have a difficulty approaching strangers. Also, if you visit an auction in a more remota area, they will definitely feel flattered to have foreign visitors, and I can...
