Kristianstad Travel Guide

A good thing to do during the summer if it´s bad weather is to go to the cinema komplex, "Bio Kosmorama". All non swedish movies have swedish subtitles and always orginal soundtrack.
A ticket will cost you 85 SEK (= € 9,50)

Lovely little hotel outside Kristianstad that serves real homemade food that is wonderful. The owners Anders and Therese is always walking around in the estaurant making sure that the guests have the best time they can have.

Favorite Dish: I just love their afternoon tea with homemade cookies.

You can get around quite easy with bus or by foot which both are cheap. Traveling longer distances with taxi might get expensive. If you go by taxi it is wise to ask for a fixed price. The best way to see Kristianstad is probably by foot or bike.

From Kristianstad you can go to Copenhagen (2 h) or Mamlö (70 min) with train.

I would consider Kristianstad a very safe town. However during the summer the risk of pickpoketing increases. Also try to avoid the streets by night during the weekends if you go by foot, since streetracing is quite common in Kristianstad. Use the pavement!

If you are interested in cars and streetracing a visit to the Domus Square Parking "Domustorget" next to Cinema Kosmorama is the place for you. All nights during summer, fri-sat during rest of the year.

Balsby is a small village, located a few kilometres north of Kristianstad. In Balsby you can bathe in lake Råbelöv. During the summer a lot of people come here to take a bath in the lake, or just hanging around the beach, sunbathing. This is also a great place for a barbaque!

What Balsby has to offer:

Why do i consider this "off the beaten path"? Well, most people that visit Kristianstad don´t know about this wonderfull place and usually goes to Åhus instead, but Balsby is a great place!

How to find Balsby: 1. Look at a map! 2. If you go by bike, use the bikelane from Kristianstad towards Balsby. 3. If you go by car drive towards Balsby.

The Åhus public beach is a great place to chill or to take a bath during the summer. Along the coastline there are many cafées where you can get a drink or try out one of the two locally produced icecream brands.

Åhus is also the place where Absolut Vodka is produced and the factory, located not far from the beach offers guided tours in the factory.

Favorite thing: 52 departments, constructed in 1997.
With good planning and good choises of material it has been possibly to build good and sound departments. The electrical and magnetic fields have also been reduced.
They were given 8 points of 10 by a ecological institute (where 10 is the best).

Fondest memory: I liked these houses, build in a special style that can be seen in "old houses".
To me these houses are good examples of modern dwellings in Sweden.
I spent some months in this region some years ago, so it was nice to be back for a short visit!
