Last weekend in September is the time for the annual apple market in Kivik, including special guided tours at the House of the Apple and at the orchards and merchants, concerts and the creating of a huge "portrait" made of 75 000 apples.
Every Easter, the roads on Österlen are packed with people wanting to make a bargain or simply see some art. This is when the art round takes place and all the galleries are open at the same time. There is no possibility to visit them all and you will see anything from pure c**p to masterpieces. The centre for Östelen Art Society and the place where all artists in the art round exhibit ONE piece so that people can see if they want to visit a certain gallery is Tjörnedala inn outside Baskemölla north of Simrishamn. Sometimes Tjörnedala also has ordinary vernissages. There is also an art round at the Kullaberg Peninsula north of Helsingborg and more art galleries can be found on the island of Ven.
