Favorite thing: The impressive, massive Malmohus castle is the oldest conserved Renaissance castle in the Nordic Region, where the Danish kings used to stay when they visited the city.
Since it was built as a citadel in the mid-16th century by Eric of Pomerania, it has housed royalty, prisoners, the Danish mint, and today, the city of Malmö’s Art Museum, the City Museum and the Natural History Museum along with an aquarium and a tropicarium.
You can take a tour through the original buildings and some of the museum’s exhibits, including one that tells the story of Malmö as a city.
Just behind the castle is a charming park that holds a number of concerts and festivals in the summer months.
