  • Hollandia: Best coffee in Malmo

by LisaCon Written Dec 8, 2013

This is our Sunday morning 'go to' spot. They have the best selection of cakes and pastries we've found anywhere and wonderful coffee with free refills, unheard of in Sweden.

Go for the cakes and stay for the atmosphere. Relaxed and friendly place to spend several hours chatting or reading. The staff all speaks several languages, including English. The orchids, of which there are many, are always gorgeous.

A definite first stop whenever we have visitors. They get hooked right away. If we ever move away, we've already got detailed records so we can have a Hollandia room in our new home. Now I just have to figure out how to get them to deliver.

Favorite Dish: Strawberry mousse tart. Carmel nut tart.

Konditori Hollandia: Cakes to die for!

This is a beautiful cafe, with an Art Deco interior (was being renovated and possibly extended when I was there), and very comfortable seating - there are traditional tables and chairs or you can relax in the sofa like seating in one of the rooms, although this place is very popular (with locals and tourists) so you may not have much choice! They do fantastic hot chocolate, and have a wide range of loose teas which you get in a type of strainer, with a pot of hot water (which you can refill) so you can have as many cups as you want until the tealeaves are drained. There are also refills of coffee, and jugs of cold water (plain or with lemon) from which you can help yourself.

Favorite Dish: There's such an amazing selection of cakes and pastries, it's too hard to choose - we had two each when we were there, and ended up staying until the place closed (about 4 hours!) just enjoying the atmosphere.
The chocolate cake seems to be especially popular!
