Stadshuset (City Hall), Stockholm

Favorite thing: Visit the city hall. Here you can take the tour and see, amongst other, the hall where the Nobel prize banquet is held.

When visiting, do not forget to take the lift to the top of the tower. From up there you have a magnificent view of Gamla Stan.

Favorite thing: When I visited in May 2004, the tower of the city hall (Stadshuset) was closed due to a recent fire and it was not possible to go up for the beautiful view of Stockholm. If you are interested in going up the tower, be sure to check at the ticket booth inside city hall to see if it has been reopened.

If you are looking for a view from above of Stockholm and the tower is still closed, I would recommend going to metro stop "Slussen" on Sodermalm. There you have an old lift that takes you up for a great view of the city. The lift is called Katarinahissen, and it's open from 7:30 AM - 10 PM Monday through Saturday and from 10 AM - 10 PM on Sundays. There's a charge of 5 Swedish Krone to go up.

The three crowns on top of the city hall tower are the symbol of Swedish power and you'll see these three crowns everywhere in Stockholm (and Sweden!).

Favorite thing: This is the Town Hall (Stadshuset) in Stockholm...

The Town Hall is open for guided tours only June to August 10 am, 11 am, 12 pm and 2 pm. May to October & April 10 am and 12 pm. September 10 am, 12 pm and 2 pm.

Favorite thing: Go to Stadshuset (The City Hall), this is a beautiful building and make sure you take a guided tour to see all the rooms in it. The Golden Room is definately a must see!!

Fondest memory: Summertime tip: After your tour through Stadshuset place your towel somewhere in the 'backyard' of Stadshuset and enjoy the sun as well as the water. The temperature of the water can be very nice at the end of the summer, so go for a swim!

Art Nouveau design by Ragnar Östberg. The interior of the CITY HALL has grand civic apartments, including the Golden Hall with its glass and gold mosaics.
You might remember from the annual Nobel Prize banquet the building's Blue Hall which is actually red!

Favorite thing: You gotta go to the City Hall Tower. From up there, the view of Stockholm is wonderful. You can see almost all of the city, from the parliament building, to the globe arena.

Fondest memory: I miss to see the beautiful view from the City Hall. That's why, go there, my friend!

Stadshuset, the City Hall, looks like a church but features the mosaic-lined Gyllene salon and the hall where the Nobel Prize banquet is held.

Favorite thing: When visiting the City Hall, spend some time on the Gallery of
the Prince, the Council Chamber, the Blue Hall, where the annual Nobel Banquet
takes place, and on the Golden Hall. This one contains over 18.000.000!!!!

concerning Birger Jarl, the founder of the city in 1252. Look at the City Hall
tower and you'll find the Three Crowns at top.

Favorite thing: You must go also at the City Hall. There you can see the hall where every year take place the Nobel Banquet. In that place you can also going into a tower where you can have a good look over all the town. Besides if you go ahead, you will find a little garden where you can stay for a bit of relax.

Favorite thing: When you visit the cityhall, spare some time to sit in the Garden of Cityhall..

The garden has a very nice view and just rest on the park and enjoy the beauty of the city..
