    Vasastan: How much whisky?

by snapey Written Aug 9, 2009 3 reviews

Never have I seen such an array of drinks, and I've been to a lot of bars. The Bishop's Arms in Vasagaten has over 100 beers to choose between, from every country you could imagine. The whisky menu starts with standard scotches and ranges through every whisky producing country up to the prize in their collection which costs around £160 for 10ml, about £400 a shot! Sadly this was a little out of my price range but I did sample a range of top quality beers as recommended by the bar staff.
Great live music adds to the atmosphere and all the regulars were really friendly.

Pub Anchor is the place to go to if you're seeking some good Rock/ Metal music in central Stockholm (Vasastan). On weekends they have live DJs (so you can ask for your favourite song:)) and occasionally also live bands (but they don't play too loud and at the rearward part of the Pub so you don't have to bother if you don't want to see them). On Tuesdays and Sundays it's time to show your Rock star quality at the popular Rock karaoke (starting around 22:00).
As common in Sweden, places that sell alcohol also have to serve warm food. At Pub Anchor they've got a pretty good pub menu, offering not only the conventional stuff like French fries, garlic bread, etc., but also some pretty good pasta, for example.
Happy hour and free entry before 22:00 (the place can be pretty crowded on weekends so you should come before 22:00 anyway!)
Minimum age: 18 on weekdays, 20 on weekends
