We have just completed the Adult's clothing and now we are in the Children's area, where on display, is what the Royal children wore during the ages.
On display was Adolf Fredrik and Lovisa Ulrika's coronation gowns in silver brocade from 1751, and the little silk frock worn by the two-year old Gustav (III) when he was dubbed a knight of the Seraphim order in 1748.
They also have the old toys they played with, really interesting seeing this, and comparing with babies of today!
There was an area, where we could dress up, and try on a Knight's helmet, which we did! Golly, it was extremely heavy!

The Royal Armoury was a fantastic museum, one my husband and I both liked immensely!
IT IS THE OLDEST MUSEUM IN SWEDEN
What we saw was a collection spanning over 500 years of item's used by Swedish Monarchs.
There is a permanent exhibition and they also hold special exhibitions.
We paid our admission, then the lovely helpful lady behind the counter filled us in on what to see and do. Off we went, doing a self tour, starting with the clothing worn over the years by the King's & Queen's.
The clothing collection is excellent! Lot's of beautiful ladies clothing and the Kings clothing worn throughout the years. All behind nice, clean glass, and all catalogued well, a very well done exhibition.

The Armoury display was fantastic, and in this area were Royal jewel's, a stunning display!
Now we are moving onto the Royal Carriage's.
We head down to the cellar where they are on display. The cellar itself was wonderful on its own! There are many beautifully decorated carriages and even a royal sled, all displayed beautifully. One of most luxurious carriages is the coach that was built in 1696 for king Charles XI and first used in 1751 by queen Louisa Ulrika of Prussia. The Coronation Coach is on display and even a child's carriage, it really is a wonderful display!
This concluded our tour of the Royal Armoury.
WE were here in July, and we hardly ran into another person in the Museum.
If you like this kind of thing, I can tell you it is EXCELLENT, and I think A MUST SEE!

From the Children's wear, we moved onto the Armoury section, which included many model's of Horse's dressed in their armour.
The Royal Armoury's oldest artefacts are the sets of royal state and ceremonial weapons that were stored in the old Three Crowns Palace during the 16th century.
It was in this royal armoury that Gustavus Adolphus in the 1620s wanted his blood-spattered clothes to be saved "as a perpetual memorial". This became the Royal Armoury's hallmark: blood-stained costumes preserved to bear witness to royal valour
Saddles also are on display. Amongst the richly decorated saddles and harnesses are various diplomatic gifts from kings and sultans.
Another excellent display, a favorite of mine!

Well, the Museum of Medieval Stockholm was in another.

In 2010, to celebrate 800 years since the birth of Birger Jarl, the founder of Stockholm, the museum opened an exhibition with a reconstruction of his face.
There is a shop where you can buy jewellery, glass and pottery and other gift's.

We were expecting rain on the Saturday morning so we planned to be indoors by taking a trip to the Moderna Museet on Skeppsholmen. Its situated in a purpose built and very airy building that was only built in 1998 and houses a collection of both International and Swedish modern art, photography and film.
The sculpture group outside is "Breakfast Outdoors" by Picasso, made in sandblasted concrete by Carl Nesjar

The Royal Coin Cabinet is part of the Museums of National Antiquities of Sweden. It consists of a collection of coins, other means of payment, medals etc. from all around the world. The Royal Coin museum depicts the economic history of man over a period of 2500 years. It thus shows the history of coins, medals and finances in Sweden. It is easily accessable and is situated close to the Royal Palace. Being a avid coins collector, I found the huge coin collection very interesting. Historical coins not only from Sweden, but from all over the world can be seen here. Outside the museum is the Museum shop which again was very interesting for me. It provides gifts and souvenirs, all connected to money or saving, spending, etc. I bought a whole lot of coins from all around the world from this shop for very cheap a price. The museum is open daily between 10.00 and 16.00 and on Mondays, the entry is free.

If you are into either royals and/or horses, this is a place for you, but it appeals to most people. In wintertime it only has one guided tour Saturday and Sunday but in summer it is more frequent. Here you find the royal gala carriages and the horses that pull them as well as the royal family's own horses. Sometimes there are also shows in the outdoor school in the courtyard.
