    Crap shopping on Drottninggatan

    Drottninggatan.

Drottninggatan is The tourist trap of Stockholm together vith Västerlånggatan in Old Town. All sort of crap you can think of is on sale here. Not to mention the overpriced restaurants and cafés. Just give it a miss.

Unique Suggestions: There are som decent shops and restaurants on Drottninggatan as a farther away from Old Town you get.

Fun Alternatives: Go shopping on Hamngatan, Kungsgatan and Biblioteksgatan instead.

Don't go shopping on touristy streets

Old Town is a great part of Stockholm and a must-see if you're visiting, but you should avoid spending all your money there. Most things are over-priced and the shops aren't really that good.

There are a few good ones, but most of the shops on roads such as "Vasterlanggatan" and "Drottninggatan" (which isn't actually in Old Town), tend to sell a lot of crap at high prices.

    Old Town shopping

Does it get tackier than this???

Yes, it is here that you will find that viking replica jewellery or lovely Sami handicraft too, but DO make sure that's what you buy and not the tons of so called Swedish souvenirs found here in the form of tacky t-shirts, trolls and viking figurines with horned helmets. The vikings never HAD horns on their helmets!!! :)))

Unique Suggestions: Leave Västerlånggatan and head for the side alleys and streets with hidden galleries and shops.

    TAX-FREE SHOPPINGTake...

TAX-FREE SHOPPINGTake advantage of Sweden's tax-free shopping scheme. Many shops supply special receipts, which you present at customs when you leave the country. About 15% of the value-added tax is returned in a simple, quick process. Many shops will also send goods direct.
