Gamla Stan - The Old Town
Gamla Stan, the Old Town, is one of the largest and best preserved medieval city centers in Europe, and one of the foremost attractions in Stockholm. This is where Stockholm was founded in 1252. All of Gamla Stan and the adjacent island of Riddarholmen are like a living pedestrian-friendly museum full of sights, attractions, restaurants, cafés,...

Kungshallen
I took my girlfriend there last night and the place looked very nice, but the chicken dish I ordered tasted like it was made 2 days ago!! I almost broke my plate when I was trying to cut it in eatable pieces. When the bill came and I mentioned the waiter about it, all he said was: ´I don´t make the food here´ and did not offer to compensate it in...

City Hall & Stortorget
This is a very pretty square just off the SW corner of Stortorget. Half-timbered buildings, cobbles, flowers, restaurants and bars with outside seating, little independent shops selling 'special' things...all very pleasant indeed. The square was originally marshland but in the late 1500s this was drained, filled and Lilla Torg (little square)...

Wonderful setting and mood. The waiters are a delight and the service great. I do however think the food needs a little inspiration it came across bland, the salad bar was not the most exciting either. I did love the wine selection and the Trapiche ecological Shiraz was a delight! All in all not a place I would visit again before changes were made....

A Souvenir shop
There is a souvenir shop in Kiruna, where they sell kitschy Swedish trinkets, as well as Sami/Lappish crafts and items. My group and I bought all sorts of things while we were there. Things with moose on them, slippers, dolls, keychains, local craft, etc.

The sun sets early in winter
Since Kiruna is at such a high latitude, the days are very short in winter. If you're going in winter, be sure you get all your sightseeing and stuff done early in the afternoon before the sun sets, because it's going to get dark early and stay dark until at least mid-morning.

Gamla Uppsala
The history of the Gamla Uppsala Church dates back to the 11th century, when the first church was built on the site of a former pagan temple. It burnt down in the middle of the 13th century and was later rebuilt. The current appearance is from the 14/15th century and the building is much smaller than the original church. When I came to Gamla...

Odinsborg, Gamla Uppsala
A nice enough cafe at Gamla Uppsala. Go up to the cashier and order your food. The cafe is geared primarily to Swedes, but the staff tries hard to explain the menu to foreign tourists. After you order (and pay), you'll be given a numbered flag. The staff will bring the your order out to you. The food won't win any culinary awards, but it's...

Basilika
The interior was trendy, and we were surprised that the prices weren't exorbitant as we had expected. The food was definitely wirth the money! 385 kroner for 3 dishes and a glass of wine. (By Scandinavian standards, that's a reasonable price for a nice meal) NB: Don't go there for the nightclub, it's expensive and it has a bad atmosphere. The...

You can also rent various sporting equipment here. If you're trying to save money, consider purchasing food for dinner, as this is the most expensive meal in the restaurant by far....

How to Get to Abisko National Park
Abisko Nationalpark Transportation
There are really only two ways to get to Abisko: by train or by car. Probably the easiest way is by train from Stockholm or Narvik. Veolia overnight trains run daily from Stockholm to Narvik, as well as an overnight train from Stockholm and Boden, with connections to Abisko and Narvik. There are also 1 or 2 local trains between Narvik and Kiruna....

Tourist town i don't think so.
Don't be fooled by the destination karlstad website. It truly is a small town with nothing to do. The stone bridge is well, to put it honestly just a stone bridge that buses drive over. Why not stand on a bridge in lets say amsterdam and watch the people who actually may even look at you or say hello back as opposed to scuttling along looking at...

They poisoned my whole family!!
Bought food from this place for the first time on Monday 16th July 2012. By Tuesday 17th, I was throwing my guts up, and crying that I wanted to die. The rest of my family all had different dishes, and they all got sick too!!This shows it was not just a one-off with...

Sundsvall Warnings and Dangers
I'm born and raised in Sundsvall, still live here today and I'd tell you all without hesitation that Sundsvall is one of the safer cities you'll ever visit. If you ask someone who has visited Sundsvall or a local here what to watch out for, they would probably say the bus station – but the reason for this is because it's a place where homeless...
