Dangerous people and bad guys everywhere..UUAAHAA-AHH-AH!! =)
Hey,I'm joking! Here the "paradise"...you have to
know that shops haven't rolling shutters...you can
walk alone in the middle of the night without having
problems(if you don't search for them,obiouvsly!)...
Snow, ice & cyclists...
I was under the impression that Scandinavian countries were astute at dealing with the worst of winter weather, but in Uppsala, I was not impressed by the provision for pedestrians. The roads are gritted & snowploughed clean, but the shared walk/cycleways, are just ignored. This is particularly difficult if you're a pedestrian, because you're expected to share a narrow slab of snow & ice with cyclists, & Uppsala being a student town, there are many of them. During my visit, there was more than 1 occasion when I slipped over on the ice, avoiding a cyclist who'd taken umbridge that I was on the cycle side of the shared walkway. 0f course, the dividing line between the shared paths was invisible under snow & ice, which makes the attitude of these Swedish cyclists, all the more disagreeable. Although a cyclist myself in my own country, I soon grew to hate the sight of these 2-wheeled locals, with their bombastic commands to keep out off "their" cycle paths. Sweden has much wider roads than UK with less traffic, so why these people must weave in & out of those on foot, when there was so much gritted tarmac to ride on, I still fail to appreciate...
