  • Terrible place to go!

It is a boring town, one of the bus stops smelt like ***... there are only old people hobbling around, and it's a real hicksville. If you are a tourist, don't go there! I got off from the bus centre, and all you can see are old and broken buildings. There is no statue of the lady of peace, half of the pictures of Karlstad provided from the members aren't even visible from the time you walk out from the bus or train station.

The university is far outside from the town, at least 30 mins by bus, in the middle of nowhere surround by some trees. If you like trees, that's fine, but that's the only thing you can find in Karlstad.

It is neither a small and charming beautiful town, nor a big city, so its somewhere in between which makes it crap.

The water in the lake or river that you can see from the sides of the town is really murky. I thought people said you could go swimming there, I wouldn't even want to die there from drowning, because its so dirty :P.

If you are a student, try searching for a job in the database, it will come up with only like 35 jobs in Varmland (where Karlstad is), and plenty of them are call operator jobs, apparently "the lowest of low" in Sweden, according to a Swedish person. Other jobs are for language teachers for French or Spanish and so on, so unless u master 3 languages (Swedish, English, language X), job opportunities are scarce here for immigrants and working holiday people.

I wouldn't want to live there! So as a tourist PLEASE DON'T GO THERE!
As quoted from a pregnant lady at a bus stop in Orebrö:
"I'm moving to this hellhole Karlstad".

    Weak ice sign

If you come here in the wintertime you might surely want to go skate or walk on the ice of Sundstatjärn for example (or some other lake), but when you see this yellow warning sign take real good care so that you don't fall through. It's a sign that warns of weak ice!

There arent really that many dangers in Karlstad. Its the same as in most other cities. You should avoid walking alone after dark and such things.
Some people find the alkoholics ,that tend to hang around the trainstation, a bit disturbing, but they are mostly very harmful.
